My lessons from life….
1. A person who deceived once can deceive X times: Great people say ‘Don’t judge’. But I beg to differ. If you don’t judge and up your security barriers then you will be trampled. History always repeats itself and you should always learn from history. Scratch the surface and you can find that human is the worst of animals.
2. If you resist it persists. If you befriend it transcend. This is so true. What is the point of resisting an idea, a person and an attitude? If you do have an option then just walk away. If you don’t have an option then don’t resist. Always try to live at either ends (0 or 1) and avoid 0.5.
3. Find time to think: If you are not getting time to think then you are lost. Life gives you only two alternatives. Either you live you dream and your philosophy or you live others’ dream. For two years of my life, I was running so hard that I did not realize that I’ve almost lost control of my life and joined the band of rats in the rat-race. But at the end when I started thinking then I realized that I’ve wasted my time and potential. So pause, think, analyse and make a move. Taking stock of life on a regular basis is extremely important.
4. Money vs. Meaning: It’s up to individuals to choose between money and meaning. And there is always an option to strike a balance. I’ve lived a number of years in a society that value money much more than meaning. I did not accept the idea and resisted. But at the end I had to let go and left that society. Money is a means to buy material and it is just a tool for exchange. Life and meaning is much more important than money. Relationship, happiness and peace can never be bought by money. And without peace and fruitful relationships life is meaningless.
5. A worthy goal: I think it is extremely important to have a goal in life. We have only one life to live. At the end of the day we should not be disappointed to find that we have wasted our lives. We all can shine in our own life and contribute in our own ways. An aimless life is a pure wastage of potential. Having a goal and trying hard to reach there are more important than success or failure. I had a period in my life where I was goalless and was floating around. In hindsight, I think it was a terrible mistake as I was helping my boss so that he could achieve his goal.
6. Desperation/Impatience: I think life always takes its own course. Being impatient is like wasting vital energy. Patience is virtue. Trying hard and being impatience are very different entities. Sometimes it is better to let it happen than make it happen. I am yet to find an effective formula to counter this enemy within but I’m working on it.
